December's Decree

Greetings Companions

By the chill in my bones I fear the winter season is upon us! But nothing garners warmth like that of friendship and good conversation. Even bad conversations amongst friends is still warming! Let us rejoice in these things then as we forage through this holiday madness. As Companions we should take it all in stride and share the moments with good cheer and warm feelings. Which can also be expressed at our annual Christmas brunch at the Silver Spring Country Club on December 18th. As is ritualistic throughout the world this is a great time for our Royal Arch family to get together and share the wonders of life with each other. Even in a Wisconsin winter every new day is a gift. We gather together again on the 7th of December at 7:30. Remember dinner is at 5:30 at Mykanos Family Restaurant at 8501 W. Capitol Dr.

November's Decree

Greetings Companions

November is rearing its cold blustery head and what better way to reconcile the cold than with a good hot bowl of chili? This year we are participating in the Henry L. Palmer Chili Cook off on November 13th a 5 pm. Come and join in the festivities as we assist the Blue Lodge in their charity endeavor. We will also be installing our newest officers for the year at our regularly stated meeting. Our Christmas brunch is tentatively scheduled for the 18th of December again at the Silver Spring Country Club. Times are changing along with the leaves soon winter will hold us in her frosty grip. Perhaps we can eke out another Super Bowl appearance, yes? We gather together again on the 2nd of November at 7:30. Remember dinner is at 5:30 at Mykanos Family Restaurant at 8501 W. Capitol Dr.

October's Decree

Greetings Companions

We have much work to complete. We need to move forward on our elections regardless of the proposed merger, I had hoped we could make an equitable exchange but as McKinley is unsure of its future we need to proceed. We also have our reconsecration so this is a great time for all of our companions to come to chapter. It is often asked of me: “So, what IS chapter.” But even moreso I am asked: “But what do you guys do?” We are always talking about the events and friend’s nights we have in our home lodges but for the greater part what can we extol about our Chapter? This is my challenge for the ensuing year: to demonstrate the virtues of not only Royal Arch masons but of Kilbourn Chapter as well. With that I am in need of your assistance, my challenge for you is to bring ideas and concerns to our next meeting so that we may all extol the virtues of York Rite masonry. Come prepared! We gather together again on the 5th of October at 7:30. Remember dinner is at 5:30 at Mykanos Family Restaurant at 8501 W. Capitol Dr. I look forward to seeing you then.

September's Decree

Greetings Companions

Summer is over it seems to me that it had just begun. We saw a lot of work these last few months. Kilbourn Chapter now boasts a newly elected Grand High Priest, congratulations companion Bill. We have a number of new companions coming from McKinley Chapter. And we welcome new companion Steve Holmblad who was exalted at the Tri-State festival in August. We have a lot of work to cover this year far and foremost is ironing out the details with McKinley and voting on our new officers for this year. Also it is my goal to get the ritual memorized and I challenge all our officers to do the same (especially as we will need to open the chapter in June’s annual communication!) Next month we will need to reconsecrate our chapter so please make sure you allocate the time to be there. As for this month we gather together again on the 7th of September at 7:30. Remember dinner is at 5:30 at Mykanos Family Restaurant at 8501 W. Capitol Dr. Unfortunately I have to work and will not be able to see you then.

Special Communication & Welcome

Greetings Companions!

This is a special greeting aside from our monthly decrees as the vote has taken place and it was unanimously agreed to grant the petition of McKinley Chapter to merge with our own. I would like to take this moment to extend our welcome to our new companions and hope that their petition is fruitful and exemplary in their eyes. As there is still procedural nuances to work out with the Grand Chapter as well as our own let us look forward for this summer as one with elation and the revelry which can come with change. For now we will still meet at the Northwest Masonic center at our usual time on the first Wednesday of the month. Our next meeting will not be until September 7th so hopefully I will have contacted everyone by then with a more formal welcome and be better abled then to report on our situation. For now welcome to our tabernacle.

June's Decree

Greetings Companions

Summer will be here soon and with it those festivities we plan for our summer months: fishing, camping, star gazing, alien visitations, gardening etc. And to allow for more time for these wonderful Wisconsin summers our chapter will be going “dark” for July and August. The Grand York Rite annual session is in a few weeks and as you recall Companion Bill Kraatz will be elected as the Grand High Priest, this is quite an honor and we must congratulate Companion Bill, also you may recall that McKinley Chapter approached our chapter with a petition to consolidate our two chapters. We will be voting on this petition at our June stated so it is important for all of our companions to get out and come to chapter. This decision will affect all of our companions and future dealings and we all have a voice to posit with. Because of this possible consolidation we are stemming off our elections until a future date so that we may get all of our paperwork complete in accordance with the Grand Chapter requested procedures. So if you have not made it to Chapter lately this would be an excellent time to get reacquainted: discuss the merger, again congratulate Companion Bill, provide suggestions and insight on how we run our Chapter for the ensuing year and commiserate with your companions. Speaking of commiserating we had a delightful time at our Spring Chapter dinner at the Fox and Hounds restaurant. It is always good to gather with friends. Our June meeting is the last meeting before summer therefore I suggest we go informal in dress if you so desire, remember we gather together again on June 1st at 7:30, dinner however is at 5:30 and a cost of $10.00 at Mykanos Family Restaurant at 8501 W. Capitol Dr.

May's Decree

Greetings Companions

Hopefully we are done now with those April showers while yes it is good for our ground and gardens and such it does tend to get a little soggy. Our garden is flushed wild with the tulips, lilies and crocuses. Now is the time to get the summer lawn care tools out and begin enjoying the early fruits of our labors and watch the color return to the Wisconsin landscape. The Grand York Rite annual session is approaching quickly and we need to make our reservations so if you have not as of yet let Art know who will be attending so we can get the paperwork in order. As you recall McKinley Chapter approached our chapter with a petition to consolidate our chapters. Details of this have been sent to you and due to timeliness and procedural attention we cannot vote on this issue until our June stated meeting thereby giving all of our companions time to reflect, comment and make their plans for attendance. And speaking of commiserating you should have received a flyer concerning our Spring Chapter dinner at Fox and Hounds restaurant. Gathering begins at 5:30, this is a great time to revisit with companions from other chapters and to honor our Past High Priests. Remember we gather together again on May 5th at 7:30, dinner however is at 5:30 and a cost of $8.00 at Mykanos Family Restaurant at 8501 W. Capitol Dr.
